Litter Registration Rules effective from January 1st 2005:
1. Mating Certificate
a) From January 1st 2005, the MKA has extended the period from 7 to 28 days, for the lodging of the Mating Certificate (Form 1) with the MKA. This will apply only to matings that take place on or after January 1st 2005. Please note that mating forms will not be accepted exceeding 28 days after mating and that there will be ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.
b) A photocopy of the Sire's Certified Pedigree signed by the current registered owner of the Sire, must accompany the Mating Certificate (Form 1) on lodgement with the MKA.
c) The MKA will NOT accept the Mating Certificate of an imported dog that has not been issued with a Certified Pedigree by the MKA, unless the ORIGINAL EXPORT PEDIGREE and the necessary documentation have been previously lodged with the MKA.
d) Faxed copies of the Mating Certificate (Form 1) are accepted at the breeders' own risk. However, the original Mating Certificate must be lodged with the MKA before or upon the Application to Register a Litter (Form 2). The MKA will not be responsible for Mating Certificates lost in post. Breeders are therefore advised to use the Registered Post or Courier services where possible.
2. Puppy Registration
a) Effective January 1st 2005, all dogs registered with MKA will be issued with a 'new look' 4-generation Certified Pedigree. New registration fees will apply (see enclosed).
b) Members have (1) ONE calendar month from the whelping date to register their litter of puppies, failing which a surcharge will apply. MKA will NOT register any litters after 6 calendar months from the date of whelping.
c) Two (2) coloured photographs must accompany the Application to Register a Litter (Form 2). One photograph must show clearly, the Dam with her whelps while the other, the whelps on their own. In both photographs, the number of whelps must be clearly displayed. Applications without the necessary photographs or with photographs that do not meet the above requirements will NOT be accepted.
d) Microchips will only be issued to members after the Application to Register a Litter had been approved. No microchips will be issued on the spot.
e) Members are reminded that all puppies must be microchipped before they are sold. Failure to do so will render the applicant liable to disciplinary action by the MKA.
f) If an application is refused OR rejected for any reason, a processing fee of RM30.00 will be levied. The remaining balance will be refunded to the applicant.
Rules on microchipping effective from January 1st 2005.
Members may apply for microchips from MKA under the following circumstances:
1. New Litter
a) Microchips will be issued to the applicant after the Application to Register a Litter has been approved by the Committee.
b) Once the application has been approved, the MKA will return three (3) photo copies of Form 2, together with the necessary number of microchips to the applicant.
c) It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that a certified veterinarian implants the microchip(s), and to obtain certification on Form 2 from the said veterinarian, that the implantation had been carried out successfully on the animal. One copy of Form 2 must be returned to the MKA within (6) SIX months of the issuance of the microchip(s).
2. Imported Dog
A member may apply to microchip an imported dog by providing all necessary details on form IP. A Certified Pedigree of the dog must be enclosed with the application form.
3. Replacement Microchips
The current registered owner of the dog may apply for a replacement chip where a dog has previously been microchipped, and the chip subsequently fails to function. The application of a replacement microchip may be made on Form IP together accompanied with the original Certified Pedigree of the dog and a letter from a certified veterinarian stating that the dog had been previously implanted with a microchip that can no longer be detected by the usual scanning methods.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1 The issuance of microchips does not imply that MKA will guarantee that the Certified Pedigree will be issued.
2 Members are reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure the microchips implanted by a certified veterinarian, before selling the puppy to buyer. If a member is found guilty not complying with the microchipping procedures, disciplinary action will be taken against him/her.
3 If MKA does not received the certification of veterinarian form within (6) SIX months from the date of issuing of microchips, the litter will be rejected without any refund.
Re-registration of Imported Dog
1. The MKA only accept the re-registration of dogs imported from the country which affiliated with FCI, AKU, KC or AKC.
2. In order to re-register with MKA, the following documents must be submitted with the application:
" Original Export Pedigree issued by the Kennel Club of the country of origin.**
(The applicant must be the register owner of the dog in the country of origin.)
" Airwaybill
" Import Permit
" Quarantine Certificate (Only required for dogs imported from countries where quarantine is required.)
If the abovementioned documents are not submitted on the time of the re-registration, the application will be rejected.
The Original Export Pedigree must be submitted within 6 months from the original date of application, or the application will be rendered Null and Void. There shall be no refund of application fees.
The approval of the application is subject to the approval confirmation from the Kennel Club of the country of origin.
**In cases where the application for Original Export Pedigree has already been submitted with the country of origin, a photocopy of the Certified Pedigree OR any document(s) that indicating the name of the imported dog must be submitted with this application. Otherwise, the application will not be accepted.
